Yoshinori Takakura

Yoshinori Takakura (b. 1981, Tokyo) is an artist who lives and works in Tokyo. He received his doctorate in Oil Painting from Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Department of Oil Painting Technique and Material. His unique oil paintings are composed of odd forms and multilayered colors that provoke metaphors for internal aspects of the human character. Takakura materializes on his canvas forms in which internal desires and external influences blend and commingle with each other, a visual transference of the nature of the human psyche, where sensations of both disgust and comfort often exist in uneasy cohabitation. He was selected for Overseas Study Program for Artists provided by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, and worked in Lebanon.
